I was originally planning on making April as laidback as possible, but when does that ever actually happen?
A few events I have going this month are…
1) Life & Lit‘s BOTM and New Adult event
2) My friend Kathy’s hosting another awesome challenge, and this month’s is ApTHRILL! The idea is to read as many creepy and suspenseful books as possible in April. Conveniently enough, I have a few horror/thriller ARCs to knock out!
APRIL TBR
† = ARC
* = not pictured
~ = ApTHRILL title
A Gathering of Shadows — V.E. Schwab
I’ve been meaning to continue this series forever, so I’ll finally be picking it back up in a buddy read!
Crooked Kingdom — Leigh Bardugo
I told you guys that, as soon as I trudged through finishing the Grisha Verse trilogy, I’d devour this duology, and here we are.
The Alchemists of Loom — Elise Kova
I’ve been meaning to read this since it released, and it got voted in as Life & Lit’s group read for our New Adult event this month!
Renegades — Marissa Meyer
You may remember seeing this one on my TBR when it first released, but I only read half of it before DNFing it at the time, as I couldn’t get into it at all. It was voted in for the BOTM in Life and Lit this month, though, so I’m giving it another try!
† Beyond a Darkened Shore* — Jessica Leake
This ARC releases on April 10th, so I need to hurry!
† Time Was — Ian McDonald
This novella releases at the end of this month, and I definitely want to get a review up for it in time. Queer time travel and hist-fic, please and thank you!
† Ash Princess* — Laura Sebastian
I am so freaking stoked for this ARC that I’m actually surprised I didn’t get to it sooner!
†~ Devils Unto Dust* — Emma Berquist
This is a horror/western mash-up with a zombie twist, so… basically, I’m really, really here for it.
†~ The Devil and the Deep — Ellen Datlow (anthology)
I was going to dive into this as soon as it arrived a few days ago, but decided to save it for the ApTHRILL event since it’s a horror anthology.
~ I Felt Their Teeth in My Bones* — Magen Cubed
I loved Magen Cubed’s A Monstrous Love last Halloween, and have been meaning to pick this one up ever since, so I figured I might as well add it to my ApTHRILL TBR!
Throne of Glass* — Sarah J. Maas
This one isn’t pictured because it’s a very last minute addition, but I was invited to join a group read-along of Throne of Glass and decided to take it as an opportunity to start my plan of reading 1 book in the series per month until the finale in October!
Leftover from March…
The Hobbit — J.R.R. Tolkien (46% complete)
This is a buddy read with my fiance that we had planned on finishing in March, but it just… didn’t happen. Oops.
Strange the Dreamer* — Laini Taylor (10% complete)
I honestly fully expected to finish this in March, but that fantasy slump hit me hard! I’m back on the grind, but I decided to savor this beautiful read. <3 *not pictured because I’ve been mainly reading the audiobook*
Ace of Shades — Amanda Foody (25% complete)
I’m not too far into this ARC yet, but sadly, I’m really disappointed so far. I think I hurt myself by reading this at the same time as SOC, because I was only a few pages in before I started seeing why so many reviews are calling it a rip-off of that book.
Six of Crows — Leigh Bardugo (43% complete)
I’m almost finished with my buddy read of this book, and loving it so much! I’m so happy to finally be joining this fandom.
What books on your April TBR are you most excited to read?

Kelly | Another Book in the Wall
April 1, 2018So many great books! I love the Six of Crows duology, Throne of Glass, and Renegades! I hope you enjoy them all, Destiny! ❤️

April 2, 2018Thank you, Kelly! <3 I can't wait. I'm loving SOC so much so far, and I read the first few chapters of TOG tonight (the group read I'm in is doing 4 chapters a day), and it's already got me hooked! I can tell it's from before SJM got better at her craft, for sure, but it's still soooo interesting and I love the characters she creates. 🙂 Happy reading this month, love!

And I‘m really excited about reading Stalking Jack the Ripper this month. I‘ve heard so many great things about it and can’t wait to start it ?

April 2, 2018My overall goal for the month of April is to read two books, and publish those Book Reviews. I’m currently reading “Prez: A Story of Love,” by Margaret Garrison. It’s my first romance read in a long time, and I’m really enjoying it so far.
Destiny @ Howling Libraries
April 6, 2018Good luck! I’m glad you’re enjoying it!

It arrived in the mail today. I’m not sure whether I’ll like. Here goes nothing.

April 6, 2018Thanks! I don’t know if you saw it, but I posted my review of Ace of Shades today. Sadly, it wasn’t very good for me, but I hope you will like it more!
