October TBR: Too Many Books, Too Little Time

October 3, 2018

All year, I swore that I would catch up on all of my fall ARCs by September 30th so that October could be totally dedicated to mood reading, yet here we are, and… well, that didn’t happen.

At all.
So, a few plans for this month are:

  1. OWNtober — reading books from my backlist that I purchased myself before this month
  2. The IT readalong that Kathy and I are co-hosting. Feel free to join us and use the hashtag #WeAllReadDownHere on twitter and instagram if you do! ♥
  3. The CERTAIN DARK THINGS readalong I’m hosting on twitter from October 7th to 11th (details here). Feel free to join in (the hashtag is #CertainDarkThingsBR), and let me know if you’d like to join the group chat!
  4. To read as many spooky things as possible!
I’m also trying something new: instead of clicking the titles for Goodreads links, you can view a Goodreads shelf of my entire month’s TBR here!

Now, on to my (incredibly oversized and unrealistic) TBR!

EMOJI KEY:
? = POC rep
? = LGBTQ+ rep
? = OWNtober
? = spooky reads

(keep in mind that I haven’t read these yet, so I may miss the rep on some titles—if you see anything I missed, please let me know!)

    1. I hope you get to read Certain Dark Things, it’s wonderful, one of my favorite vampire books!

      1. Thank you! I’m definitely prioritizing it since I’m doing the group read on Twitter. I’ve learned the easiest way to force myself to read something on time is to rope other people into reading it with me! ??

    1. Hah yeah my tbr for this month is out of control too haha. But at least some of your arcs fit for halloween. 😉

        1. It’s the Off the Grid readathon where you switch off from Social Media….cant wait to try it! Good luck with Spookathon if you do it ?

            1. Its being hosted jointly by Bionic Book Worm and I Should Read That if you want to look them up ? Thanks!

            1. Yay! I’ll look out for your update post! The thought of switching off of social media for a few days actually makes me feel excited!

            1. I have been pulling back a bit from SM as I just seem to have the time at the moment so this will be great to see what’s it’s like with none!!

    1. You limited it to a sensible 35 books (read: HOLY CATS! Did she pick 35 BOOKS??). Lol Just Kidding! =) That’s a crazy ambitious TBR, but I support your choices and hope you get to as many of them as possible while still celebrating your BDAY and WEDDING!! <3 <3
Also this: #WeAllReadDownHere is hysterical. I fully support this hashtag.

    1. If you get to all those books and don’t know what to read I recommend The Kiss Quotient. I just read it and really liked it. It’s a refreshing romance and quite a fun read – as well as educational concerning Asperger’s syndrome. Both MC’s are really lovable!
      Happy reading!

    1. Ahhh, what a great (and ambitious) TBR!! I hope you love all of these books. I think Beneath the Citadel has LGBTQ rep? I’m currently reading it and it’s looking to be along those lines. Lol I’m trying not to spoil anything hence the vagueness??

    1. That is a HELL of a TBR! I hope you can get to most (all??) of them! Reading all the ARCs so that I can have a “free” October was also my goal…and it’s SO not happening. ? Why are there so many books coming out in October???

    1. You have a busy month ahead! I hope that you get to read at least one from your personal collection. 🙂

    1. Your title is literally me! Every year, I promise myself to read ONLY spooky books in october, however, I always ended up playing catch up with my other reading goals? Good luck with your tbr, they are huge!

    1. I love how varied your reads always are! Best of luck on tackling all of these! I just recently got into an intense fantasy mood, so I’ll probably take advantage and read all my backlisted fantasy books before the wind blows my reading mood in a different direction.

      1. Awesome, thank you! I actually meant to update this post, but I moved it to my November TBR! So the bad news is it’ll be a little bit longer before I read it, but the good news is I’m moving it so I can buddy read it which means I will finally DEFINITELY pick it up! 😀

    1. Looks like you’ve got some great books on this tbr! I’m hoping to get to the Graveyard Book some time soon, so if you decide to read that one, hit me up for a buddy read, love! ❤️

            1. If you’re okay with it, it would be awesome if we could just go at our own pace, because I’ve got the audiobook for it and it can be hard to predict how much time I’ll be able to listen on a given day!

            1. Okay! Sounds great! Yeah, I would imagine it would be quite difficult to figure out where you’re at if it’s an audiobook! Hahaha.

            1. For sure! I’m using the audiobook of IT for the month long readalong I’m co-hosting this month and it’s been so hard to figure out if I’m staying on schedule or not because the chapter formatting in the audiobook is so weird!

      1. I won’t. ? Trust me, never in a million fucking years will I be able to read all of these! but I’ll be really, REALLY happy if I can get to 25 of them. It’s not looking good, though, since it’s the 7th (well, barely, but still) and I’ve only finished 2, I think…? sigh.

        1. Well, this definitely does not remind me of how I’m behind on my replies, HAHA. Oh lord.
Hope you were able to catch up a bit by now! Like. You should totally let out the competitive side of your awesome self and make sure you beat the number of books I’m reading this month. [Right now I’ve read 8 books this month so GET A MOVE ON.]

          1. You did great on catching up, though! 😀 And WTF, you’ve ALREADY read 8 books?! ? I think so far I’ve read 3 novels, 1 novella, DNFed a novel, and read a handful of graphic novels and children’s books on Netgalley because I’m trying really hard to get over 90%. :’)

            1. I should be proud of that, right? If ONLY I was on schedule with IT, I would be. But I feel like I’m picking up any other book just to not continue reading that monster. ?
Is now the right time to mention my 91% ratio? Granted, I’ve only been accepted for 66 galleys ever so it’s not that hard to stay on top. :’)

            1. You should be very proud! I mean, it sucks that we’re both having such a hard time keeping up with IT, but hey, if it’s motivating you to knock out a bunch of other stuff, what’s one book versus 8? :’)
Ooooooh, that’s amazing, though! I actually think it’s way harder to get a high percentage when you’ve been approved for less, because each eARC weighs so much more heavily, so I think you should be super proud of your 91%!

            1. Definitely true! Although I’m even less proud now than a week ago because I haven’t even read past the first mark yet. OOPS. [Awful hosts we are. ? ]
That’s true, in a way, but on the other hand.. I simply make sure I never have more than five / six eARC’s to read so it’s pretty easy to stay on top of them that way? And lately I’m even more wary of requesting them since I’ve no clue how I’ll be handling my blog once the little asshole is born. [He. does. not. stop. kicking. my. bladder.]

            1. If it makes you feel any better, not only have I failed as a co-host for this readalong, but I completely failed at being the host of the Certain Dark Things readalong I was doing on twitter, too. :’)

            1. Eh, just blame it on life! We’re BOTH bad hosts at this point because I cannot be arsed to pick up IT. Even though I’ll have to in about an hour since I finished Odd One Out before work and didn’t bring any book with me so.. I either start a new ARC or continue IT on my Kindle..
[Okay. Chances are I’ll just start a new ARC but shhhh.]

    1. I am so happy you are joining us for the OWNtober challenge. I recently read The Kissing Quotiently and really enjoyed it. I hope you get to it soon. HAPPY READING!

Say hello! ♥
