It’s time for a weekly check-in!
There wasn’t a whole lot of reading happening this week because we got a new addition to our family last Thursday night! We were on the way home from my son’s karate class and found a dog abandoned in the road. She was scared and underfed, so we took her home with the plan of keeping her safe and fed until Animal Control could take her, but it turned out that the local shelter is totally overrun. We agreed to “foster” her, but we’ve kind of fallen in love with her so I think she’s staying for good. 😅 Her name is Sunset! Here’s a picture of her laying in the floor with Echo last night. 💖 (Echo’s the bigger one and Sunset’s the one in the purple harness—it’s uncanny how similar they look lol)
Like I said, I’ve had so much going on with bringing Sunset in, dealing with her spay and vaccines and quarantine and all of that, and stressing over her adjustment to the family (and the other pets’ adjustment to her!), that I just haven’t read much. I finally finished an anthology I had been working on for months and I did tear through a random fantasy romance I found on KU, but otherwise, it’s been crickets over here. I even had to put my buddy reads on hold for a minute. 😅 I’m hoping that I’ll get back into my reading mojo over the next week as things settle down.

I’m probably going to try to finish Cows and Gemina today if I can. A new round of the Unexpected Readathon started today, and I’d love to make a real dent in my current reads this weekend!
- The Shadow of What Was Lost by James Islington → 54%
- Slaying the Vampire Conqueror by Carissa Broadbent → 36%
- That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon by Kimberly Lemming → 15%
- This Cursed Light by Emily Thiede → 10%
- The Invocations by Krystal Sutherland → 61%
- Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff → 70% (re-read)
- Cows by Matthew Stokoe → 22%
- Ghostland: An American History in Haunted Places by Colin Dickey → 49%
I’m back on my House Flipper bullshit… again. 😂 I keep thinking I need to move on to trying HF2 since I bought it when it released, but I have it stuck in my mind that I need to finish all the jobs in HF1 first, and they keep adding new ones! 🤣 Maybe this week I’ll finally try out the sequel.
What are you reading right now, or what did you recently finish? Is anything exciting happening in your life? Let me know in the comments!
