Happy September! I’m so freaking excited that the “ber” months have started! It’s my favorite time of year anyway, but I have SO much fun stuff planned with the people I love over the next couple of months and I just can’t wait! 🥰 I know it’s been like a month since I posted one of these, but that’s because I spent most of August in a major reading slump that only finally ended in the last week of the month! And then I somehow finished 9 books in 5 days? Make it make sense.
1. What did you read last?
- Haunt Sweet Home ❌ DNF ❌ → I was bored. 😩
- Adrift in Currents Clean and Clear ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ → This series never lets me down! 🥹
- Camp Slaughter ❌ DNF ❌ → I was bored with this, too!
- Big Boss ⭐⭐⭐⭐ → Misleading title, cute story.
- I Found a Circus Tent in the Woods Behind My House ⭐⭐⭐ → This was alright, but I think this author’s books really just aren’t for me.
- The Curse That Binds ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫 → I loved this, not quite as much as Bewitched and Bespelled, but still a whole lot.
- The Songbird & the Heart of Stone ⭐⭐⭐⭐💫 → Much like TCTB, I loved this, not quite as much as the other books in the series so far, but still a whole lot. 🥹 Mische was a little tough for me as the FMC at first, but once I “clicked” with her, it was great.
- Sad Nuggie: Life is Sweet and Sour ⭐⭐⭐⭐ → This was cute! A little bland at times, but cute.
- Ew, It’s Beautiful: A False Knees Comic Collection ⭐⭐⭐ → I wanted to love this more than I did. I usually love irreverent humor like this, but a lot of the punchlines just fell flat.
- All Are Welcome ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ → I always enjoy the Cat’s Cafe books! This might be my favorite yet. It’s so wholesome and sweet!
- Stinetinglers 3 ⭐⭐⭐ → I usually really love R.L. Stine’s stories, but this collection was pretty meh.
- The Buffalo Hunter Hunter 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 → EASILY one of the best things I’ve read so far this year. 😭 I finished it 5 days ago and I’m still in shambles!
2. What are you currently reading?
- Gothikana → Still 53% in, no progress on this one.
- Making Out with Mermaids → I’m only 8% into this, still. I haven’t had ANY motivation to pick it back up.
- Taken By the Dark Elf King → Only 10% into this so far, but it’s cute! I love the cover art. 😍
- The Irresistible Urge to Fall For Your Enemy → I’ve been 12% into this since I first picked it up about a month ago, and at this point, I should just restart it. I don’t think the audio is working for me, so I might switch to reading it visually.
- Hemlock & Silver → I’m 19% into this and LOVE it so far, which surprises nobody, because T. Kingfisher is one of my all-time faves!
- Veil → I’m only 10% into this, but I already feel so emotionally invested in this family. 😭
- How to Stop Trying: An Overachiever’s Guide to Self-Acceptance, Letting Go, and Other Impossible Things → I’m 12% into this and, so far, it isn’t hitting, but I’ve barely passed the intro tbh.
- Graveyard Shift → I started this yesterday and listened to the first 75% in one go, and plan on finishing it tonight. It’s good so far! Not what I expected, but good.
- The Fallen & the Kiss of Dusk → I got 16% into this last night and am already obsessed. I’ve already cried once. 🥲
3. What will you read next?
- Demon Song → This is on my September TBR and I’m just too excited to hold off any longer! It’s super short and I feel like I’ll binge it in one go!
- The Entanglement of Rival Wizards → I think Malli and I are starting our buddy read of this in the next few days, hopefully!
- Roots of My Fears → I haven’t read a horror anthology in a little bit and I always crave those quick, spooky shorts when fall starts rolling around!
