Halfway there: how is my progress on my 2023 goals?
A few months back, I posted a 1st quarter check-in for the year, and I thought it would be fun to see how much progress I’ve made since then on my 2023 goals!
1. Goodreads challenge
I didn’t realize I had passed 100 books until I checked my progress to add this screenshot! I’m pretty sure I’ll complete the challenge by the end of July and I’m really excited about it, because at the start of the year, I was honestly not 100% sure I would accomplish 120 books this year since I had been slumping so badly for a while.
2. 2023 TBR
I picked 12 books for my 2023 TBR, with the goal of reading 1 per month. I’m super behind on this one: I’ve only read 3 so far: Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun, The Dismembered, and A House With Good Bones. On the upside, I gave all of them 5 stars each!
3. Seasonal TBRs
I’ve been slacking BIG time on my seasonal TBRs this year. 😅 I still haven’t completed my Winter or Spring TBR lists, and I haven’t even started on my Summer list. I’ve read…
- Tell Me I’m Worthless ⭐
- What Lies in the Woods ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Annihilation ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- The Salt Grows Heavy ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- Everything the Darkness Eats ⭐⭐
- Briardark ⭐⭐⭐
I started Do I Have to Wear Black?, but wasn’t in the mood and set it aside, and I’m currently reading Pretty Girls.
4. 2023 series goals
I picked 10 series I wanted to finish in 2023, and I’m making reeeeally slow progress on it. 😂 I did complete the Throne of Glass series, and I re-read City of Bones by V.E. Schwab, but that’s it!
5. Make smaller TBRs
I’m still sticking to this goal pretty well!
6. Read 4+ TBR jar picks per month
I didn’t meet this goal in February or March, but I did succeed every other month so far!
7. Fewer current reads at one time
I finally got down to my planned limit of 6 current reads at once, and have stuck to it for the past two months or so. It’s taken a lot of pressure off of my reading, but I think it would be nice to get that number even smaller, so I’m low-key hoping to whittle it down to 4 at a time by the end of the year and stick to that!

July 11, 2023Ahh I need to read What Lies in the Woods!! I love everything of Kate Alice Marshall that I’ve read so I need to get this one done too.
Whoops, I have… majorly/all but abandoned my tbr jar hahaha. I really need to get back to it. And also really crack down on the kindle shelf. It’s… scary ?

Oh no, poor abandoned TBR jar! ? I hope you can get back to it soon, if you want to, of course. I love using mine and wish I remembered to use it more often!

July 24, 2023Thank you! 😀 I’m soooo excited for more of Small Spaces. I’m devoting August to ARCs so I’m considering devoting September to working on some of my series goals and making that the first priority!
